I’ve come to understand that peace of mind is more valuable than being right, especially when arguing with someone who’s determined to misunderstand you.
Men — yes, some, not all — have this spectacular ability to stay confidently wrong with their chest. And if you ever try to correct them, be ready for a full-blown TED Talk on a topic they know absolutely nothing about but are willing to die defending.
It’s not that I don’t have the energy. It’s that I now choose where to invest it. I’ve decided to stop debating with men who use memes as facts, WhatsApp broadcasts as research, and treat “I feel like” as data.
Arguing with them is like fighting over a seat in a bus that’s already burning. By the time you prove your point, the bus is gone, your time is wasted, and you’re inhaling the smoke of frustration.
Besides, have you noticed? When they say “let’s agree to disagree,” it’s just code for “I’ve run out of nonsense to say but my ego won’t let me admit defeat.”
So I save my breath, sip my water, moisturize, and move on. Because the best clapback is living well — unbothered, unargued, and glowing.
Life is short. I don’t drag with men. I drag my mouse, my wig, and sometimes my suitcase. That’s it.
